@Adam Mills - The splash page looks interesting, but I'm an "open source" kind of guy. I'd accomplish the same end for less money but certainly more trouble using a dd-wrt based router, OpenDNS, and a limited user accounts if I felt I needed that much control. Fortunately, my kids never tried to push boundaries too far, so I had OpenDNS to stop them from accidentally coming across the wrong stuff.
@Adam Mills If you're that worried, you have bigger problems, and you should perhaps eliminate internet access altogether. One step short of that is to create a limited user account to prevent changing any network settings. That, too, is trivially easy, but very difficult to bypass.
@Adam Mills - Not when I switch DNS servers at the router and block all DNS requests but OpenDNS on port 53. If I was really concerned, I'd set up user accounts on their computers and require an administrative password to make system changes. We all run Linux, so that's a three minute task. I've never needed to do that because I'm lucky enough to be able trust my kids. I run everything through OpenDNS so they don't get hit with something they can't ever un-see.
If you live in the United States, it's likely that your local school district must provide speech therapy, including assesments. First, though do as Erica and Stephie suggest and have his hearing and development checked by a doctor.
In the U.S., the legal drinking age is 21. That means the homeowner providing alcohol to 18 year olds is taking on the liability for anything that goes wrong, from rapes to road accidents, as well as subjecting themselves to criminal prosecution.
@DanBeale Perhaps where you live, there may be many more disabled people or far fewer disabled toilets. Where I live, every public restroom has a separate disabled restroom or stall, and it's very rare for them to be in use. They are commonly used by the non-disabled.
@leo Not just dry air, but when the weather's cold, we shut the windows and crowd inside. Less fresh air, more breathing in what others have breathed or coughed or sneezed out.
When my second daughter was born, it just was. Change that first diaper for your second child in the hospital just like you did with the first child, and the second needs you just as much as the first did and does. So I guess my answer is, "Not long at all."
