And even then, just due to Western societal norms, his mother could still keep calling him that at that at any age and no one would blink an eye. A mother could call either daughter or son sweetie, or a dad could call his daughter sweetie for their entire lives and no one would think anything of it. His dad calling him that would be considerably more embarrassing to his friends IMO. What's wrong with just calling him by his name, anyways?
