Aug 10, 2020 at 8:06 comment added Paul Johnson This seems very one-sided. E.g. "trains the brain, especially the forming brain, in improper ways"; surely its training the brain in the way that electronic devices work. Its a little reminiscent of the fears from my childhood that pocket calculators would render children innumerate, and the 18th C. moral panic about reading economist.com/1843/2020/01/20/…

Oct 10, 2019 at 18:20 comment added tbrookside I am not entirely sure how it would be possible to draw a distinction between the "unnatural surface" of an iPad and the "unnatural surface" of a book. Or between the "repetitive motion" of swiping an iPad and the "repetitive motion" of turning the pages of a book.

Oct 8, 2019 at 16:00 comment added user3067860 I thought the "sitting too close makes you nearsighted" thing had been disproven? webmd.com/eye-health/qa/… Basically the conclusion was that people who are already nearsighted sit closer because that's the only way they can see...not the other way around.

Oct 8, 2019 at 10:59 comment added Nikos Hidalgo this is a forum with international access, but linking to resources even when they're in German wouldn't be a bad idea. If somebody's interest enough they will go to the trouble of translating them. As long as your answer is written in English, it's fine.
