comment Should I tell my 10-year old son, how screwed-up Cinderella is?
What version of Cinderella are y'all reading? In every version I've encountered, the stepmother is careful to treat Cinderella very well while her father is still alive. (And I really liked how the new live-action movie version treated the story: without really rewriting any of the broad details, and amazingly without resorting to the modern filmmaker's favorite hammer of "subverted tropes" [read: cynicism], it made it into a realistic story about courage & kindness overcoming evil. Well, as realistic as a story can get when it involves fairy godmothers.)

@Guillaume: the credit card is like a magic thing to many, many adults, too. :)

"house is full of useless toys": This. Precisely this.

comment What's the cleanest way to change a diaper on an airline flight?
Note that tiny as they are, airplane lavatories often do have a changing table. It can be well-camouflaged, though, among all the various mysterious panels and latches. Ask a flight attendant for help (preferably before the need becomes acute) if you don't see it.

comment My daughter hates all pants other than her sweats?
Farm girls grew up into farm wives for centuries -- millenia, even -- without ever wearing anything other than skirts. Just saying. :)

comment How to teach a child a foreign language at home when both parents aren't native speakers of a different language?
What Warren said: without knowing what sort of language environment you live in, we can't answer this.

+1 for filming it and using it for blackmai[ahem, sorry] showing it to him when he's a teenager. :)

comment How important is it to brush infant's teeth before vs. after the goodnight milk bottle?
@deworde: how on earth do you get a 3-month-old to spit out the (highly poisonous if swallowed) fluoride toothpaste?

comment How important is it to brush infant's teeth before vs. after the goodnight milk bottle?
My niece is 3, and we have exactly the same question. (Well, sippy cup instead of bottle, but same idea.) It doesn't help that this child and sleep are mortal enemies.

We all know this, but how do you reconcile it with the practicalities? I don't know about you, but I certainly can't brush a child's teeth without waking her up.

comment How do we avoid leaky diapers at night?
Uh, before the advent of artificial lighting, if you woke up after 4 hours of sleep, it was pitch dark. Unless you consider sex a "quiet activity", that theory is utter nonsense.

comment Is putting a 9-year-old to bed early abusive?
Personally, I would consider the getting up at 5:15 to be the abusive part, but only jokingly. ("Not a morning person" doesn't even begin to cover it.)

comment Daughter saying whole sentences at home but not in kindergarten
If she's not yet three, I'd venture to guess that she's actually attending preschool (or perhaps daycare), not kindergarten.
