comment Can I figure out what my baby wants by the sound it makes when it cries?
+1 - This mirrors my experience almost exactly. IME, there are still some subtle differences later on. Crying from pain is very distinct from other cries, and cries for attention are distinct from cries of necessity (i.e. hungry or diaper)

+1 for the website alone!

comment Do you use number of weeks or day of the month to determine an infant's birthday?
+1 for total calendar geekery. I now have another piece of nigh-useless lore with which to impress my friends who will no doubt exclaim "Why the #$@! do you know that?!"

comment Is cosmic radiation a concern for a pregnant airplane passenger?
+1 for mentioning thrombosis. Depending on how far along she is, this is something that the asker should be worrying about more than radiation.

comment How can I prevent diaper leaks with my newborn?
At the risk of being insulting: You are pointing his penis downward when putting on the diaper, right? I only mention it because before my son was born, it had never even occurred to me until my sister-in-law pointed it out. My daughters had certainly never needed such treatment. :-)

comment At what age do kids start sleeping through the night?
FWIW, every child is different. My wife and I were spoiled by our first child, who slept from ~9pm - 4am, fed, then went back to sleep until 7 or 8 am. Our 2nd was up every hour for the first 6 months, and drove my wife absolutely insane. Our 3rd used to wake up every 3-4 hours for the first few months, and has been sleeping from 8pm - 7am since about 4 months old.

comment How strict should we be with our 14 month old boy?
@Renesis: If that question were easy to answer, parenting would be easy. ;-)

comment When to allow children to consume sugar/candy/sweets/junk?
Before someone else gets them hooked on junk food. Yes, it's smarmy, which is why I made it a comment. Cookies, ice cream, cake, chips, and other junk foods are staples of school-time snacks and parties. I think it'd be best to have your children at least acclimated to their existence and used to seeking out the healthy alternatives when provided a choice before someone else gets him used to seeking out the junk food whenever possible because you're providing zero availability. @MichaelF has the right idea: All things in moderation.

comment What are some hacks and gadgets for a soon-to-be dad?
+1 - Good idea! Considering that the higher end baby monitors can cost nearly as much as a decent cordless phone, that's a good idea. Unless, of course, your house has gone cell-phone only, like mine. :-P
