How can parents avoid their child becoming a “whiner”? I like this answer. I'd like it more if you provided the references that you indicate other answers are missing. |

Does/can it have a negative effect, if newborns/infants are exposed to background noise (TV, …) while awake or sleeping? I like when my kids fall asleep with audible background noise because it means I don't feel like I have to be a ninja in my own house while they're sleeping. |

How to prepare children for impending death of a parent? I think that this is a situation where the services of a good professional would be a great help, and it may be better to start finding someone who's a good fit for your family sooner rather than later. |

What factors encourage collaborative play in Nintendo DS games? Good luck: DS gaming between my daughters (7 & 5) pretty quickly devolves into whininggetting mushrooms, or coins, or one knocking the other one down, and "she won't let me win" Not that they won't have fun, but they'll still find ways to fight about even purely co-op games. |

Do we need an electronic breast pump? Exactly. I always felt that there was something extra special about feeding compared to just holding them. Not that having them go to sleep in my arms wasn't awesome too. Just different. |

Do we need an electronic breast pump? Pumping also means that dad can feed baby and get extra special bonding time, and mommy can take a break once in a whole. |

Ideas for dealing with a 16 month old toddler who likes to climb things? Pictures from my toddler years show nearly every climbable surface blocked off with large cardboard panels (e.g. cut down from appliance boxes). My son is going through the same stage right now -- all we can do is offer safer places for climbing and watch like hawks. As long as he's not taking a header from the dining room table onto the hardwood floor, we're ok. |

Ideas for dealing with a 16 month old toddler who likes to climb things? +1 for mentioning that they're going to fall sometimes -- better that they do it while still flexy and low to the ground rather than later. |

What are some effective strategies that I can take to get my first grade child in the highest quality teacher's classroom? "Even the teachers do not know which grade they'll be teaching next year." That just sounds incredibly bizarre to me. |
