-1 for "Believes that the government and regulation should be less involved in the lives of the people" because this is objectively false. The political right believes that the government should be involved in everything from people's sex lives to religion (eg, the Ten Commandments in a courtroom). They believe deeply in the redistribution of wealth in the form of--for example--tax breaks for oil companies, which seriously distort the energy market.

comment When is physical punishment appropriate?
@Casebash: Unless you know that this is the case, I can't really respond. I would note that this style of communication--going from the specific to the general--is common not only on stack overflow itself but in the broader world as well.

comment Is it cruel to deny laughing gas for a teen getting a tooth filled?
Nitrous isn't all that hard to obtain. creamright.com. On the other hand, it isn't all that hard to obtain because its fairly harmless. There are tons of things to worry about in this world--such as airplane glue--that are easier to get and way more harmful.

comment Everything my son draws is abstract. Is this a problem?
I think its reasonable to associate both with fine motor skills, but I would agree that there is no direct correlation between the two. I can draw quite well but my handwriting is atrocious.

comment Can a school prevent a child from walking home?
The -1 is for fear mongering. It's hard to get precise statistics on this for more recent years, but in 2002, there were 115 'stereotypical' kidnappings (kidnappings by a stranger with intend to harm or permanently hold the child) in the US. The odds of a child being kidnapped are quite literally 1 in a million. A child is about 30 times more likely to drown.
