comment Should we switch from cloth to disposable diapers?
The -1 is for "I don't a know single baby that has not had a diaper rash." I don't either, but I haven't ever had a doctor tell me that a rash was a bacterial infection, either. I don't think that dismissing what could be a serious medical concern is particularly helpful. As a side note, my underwear preferences would be heavily biased against cotton if I got blisters on my penis every time I wore cotton underwear.

There is also a school of thought which claims that cloth diapers are better because they are less absorbent--the idea being that a less comfortable diaper encourages potty training. But in any case, I would tend to agree that even if disposable diapers are evil, penis blisters are more evil. I would be very hesitant to continue experimenting... what if instead of a detergent that he's less allergic to, you find one he's even more allergic to?

+1 for Zombies. I do think hobos should be taken off the list, though. One month olds LOVE hobos, the rocking motion of the train is very soothing.

comment How can we discipline a strong-willed, misbehaving 5 year-old?
-1 for considering hurting animals and running away in parking lots to be normal 5 year old behaviors. I'm not an expert on childhood behavior, but these are not behaviors that I see exhibited by the 4 and 5 year olds on my sons T-Ball team or among his classmates. To the contrary, if a parent brings a puppy around the group, the children usually behave with exaggerated care. I've never seen a kid run away from his parents in a parking lot. These could be serious problem behaviors, and the poster should talk to a professional.

-1 for "Believes that the government and regulation should be less involved in the lives of the people" because this is objectively false. The political right believes that the government should be involved in everything from people's sex lives to religion (eg, the Ten Commandments in a courtroom). They believe deeply in the redistribution of wealth in the form of--for example--tax breaks for oil companies, which seriously distort the energy market.

comment When is physical punishment appropriate?
@Casebash: Unless you know that this is the case, I can't really respond. I would note that this style of communication--going from the specific to the general--is common not only on stack overflow itself but in the broader world as well.
