Reasoning vs “because I say so” Although in that specific case, another reason is that if she attempted to carry the chemistry set through security, she would either lose it forever or have to send it through the mail, and there's a good possibility that she (and any adult she was with) would be detained for a long time. Why? Because that's a rule held by a powerful authority that doesn't negotiate. |

How do I tell my parents I'm no longer Christian? @DA01 It sometimes helps, when analyzing other people's motives, to try to look at things from their point of view. To a person who truly believes in the reality of hell, supporting a child who is determined to go there might be a terrible disservice to the child, literally the worst possible thing that could be done for them. |

How do you respond to a teenager who has started to smoke? Meh. I knew all that, had my dad tell me about it, saw pictures of dead peoples lungs, watched my grandfather die of emphysema and cancer, and still smoked. Teens are idiots. kotaku.com.au/2010/06/… |

How do you respond to a teenager who has started to smoke? I have an idea: lets just repeat the previous two comments back and forth until a moderator makes us stop. :) Seriously, I clearly don't agree with you. From my perspective, my question is relevant, which is why I asked it. |

How do you respond to a teenager who has started to smoke? that doesn't really help me to understand the specific relationship being asked about in the question. Neither parents nor teenagers are homogenous groups, and the answer to the question will depend on specifics. |

How do you respond to a teenager who has started to smoke? Do you give them money? Cigarrettes are extremely expensive in the US, and illegal to purchase for under 18s. |

How to handle a 11y/o son who act like a girl? @RexKerr and if you would like to discuss this further, I suggest we take it to chat. This discussion does not belong in this comment thread. |
