It may be the case that they don't feed their kids green curry at 6 months, but I'd be willing to bet that they start feeding their kids things that white Americans would consider spicy (often, too spicy, but that's so not saying much) at that age or maybe a little older. We've had success with this to varying degrees with both our kids. The first took to spicy Indian like a duck to water at around 6 months, the second took a while longer, say around 12 or 13 months.

It's taken our son about 4 months before he could control himself reliably, and even then that's "mostly". Times when he's having altogether too much fun to notice when he needs to go potty are when he has accidents now.

It basically came down to us saying "You're ready. You're starting in underpants today" in spite of his screaming. Also, can we correctly assume that he's your first child?

Actually managing to achieve this feat gives confidence, is fun, and is something you can all do together. Don't put a jaundiced view on computer gaming, just because you hold no value for it. Please, someone tell me the difference between trophies a kid can win playing some game like Soccer and Chess? Why is any game involving electronics automatically bad, while any game involving physical activity automatically good?

I've offered to do this at professional daycares, and they insist that doing so changes the child's behaviour - they at least know that they're being observed, and my oldest son in particular just gloms onto me the moment I walk in the door (I come home for lunch frequently), so it's really difficult to observe anything about how they normally operate.
Jun 2	comment	Why would a primary-schooler want to kill himself? Why are you sugarcoating the reason for Dad's absence? It's far better if we actually know if the parents are going through the separation phase of a divorce or if he's in prison or on a business trip.
Jun 1	comment	Is an expensive stroller worth it? An even more important test is to put a good 30 lbs of weight into the stroller and then try to steer it with one hand. And then with 4 wheel strollers, consider multiplying that force by about 3 for less than smooth surfaces and later wear. Get the stroller that manoevers the easiest.
