At what age or developmental milestones is it safe to leave children unattended? Note that in some places, there are legal requirements that trump parental judgement and child development. For example, in NZ, the minimum age is 14 (legislation.govt.nz/act/public/1981/0113/latest/DLM53535.html), for any significant period of time. |

How do I explain regional differences in language? The issue is that he has trouble understanding how they are different languages when 90%+ is exactly the same (unlike, e.g. Spanish or Māori). |

How do I explain regional differences in language? A nice suggestion, although a lot of work :) We read four books each night, so that would add quite a lot of prep and execution time, although most books are from NZ/UK/US, so there would be a lot of overlap I guess. |

How do I explain regional differences in language? Thanks. His understanding of geography is significantly behind his reading, so that doesn't really help. Using this as a reason to try and improve that is a good suggestion. |

How do I explain regional differences in language? @torbengb Not as far as I can tell. It isn't really an English question (I know why there are differences and what there are), it's a parenting question (how to explain this to a pre-schooler). I'd like advice from parents, not language experts (for this particular question). |

How do you decide when it is time to change schools? @Aaron age is a relevant component. In particular, if the child is near a time when everyone of his age is changing school anyway, then that is often the best time. When this occurs differs across countries. |

How do you stop a child from using bad language and profanity? +1 for morphing with little ones. As long as they don't hear the words often, it's easy to do as long as you think quickly. |

How do you decide when it is time to change schools? What country is this? It makes a significant difference, since ages are grouped differently in different countries. |
