Saved from the web by a job in industry. Coding GUI for computer-aided railway realignment machinery.
At last a job where I have time to do stuff properly and don't have to worry about loads of unfixed bugs coming back to haunt me.

Are there any studies about whether learning to read in two languages is slower? @Beofett, the former. I can't imagine anyone learning a new language and learning to read at the same time! |

Is there software that helps teach pre-schoolers to recognize letters? Yup, Starfall was what came to mind when I read the question title. Doesn't help for Norwegian though :) |

How much should I interact with my newborn? @Lennart, yup, +1 for slings. With a sling and the baby facing forwards you can get on with lots of things and they're very happy. |

At what age should siblings stop sharing their bedroom? Yup, my answer would be 'when the first one leaves home' :) |

Why won't our infant stop crying when in the car seat? Yup, we had the same problem when our daughter was a bit older - she hated the car until she got a seat where she could see out the window. (Though I doubt that is the problem at the moment). Though, possibly being able to see the parents in the front would be reassuring too. Maybe she doesn't like the noise of the car? |

Is the “1 2 3 Magic” strategy for disciplining effective? +1 for the 1.5 year-old. Our 3 year-old counts at us when we don't do what she wants :) |

How long is breastfeeding effective and worthwhile? @Javid, and why standardise by gestation time? Why not standardise by "when they can get up, walk around and forage on their own"? |

How do you feed a picky eater? I don't know that I'd go as far as ron M. below, but letting them actually get hungry does help. If you're not careful, you can fall into a vicious cycle of 'fussy at mealtime, hungry after, gets a snack, not hungry at mealtime'. |
