comment How do you cope in the first few months?
"Allow everything else to slide into chaos." As much as I'd love to do this, in a week and a half I'm off leave and then will have my full-time job to take care of—which sucks for mum, but if I don't do it, we'll have bigger issues than feeding. (Not to say I don't love your advice, by the way! Just mentioning. Thanks for your great words.)

"When I was a kid, my folks took a lot of guff from other adults for letting me "play on the computer" so much. I started programming when I was six and now make a career of it." — You and I both! :D

@Andra I'm curious - what is it about a routine that can drive parents mad? I find routine helps - whether or not you've got kids! ;-)

comment How do I prepare my home for the arrival of my premature baby?
Wow -- I'm kind of shocked. 4 pounds is tiny! My baby was born at 2.5kgs (5lbs 8oz), 35 weeks, and he's staying still for some time yet. Make sure your baby's not coming home too early; a rushed trip to the hospital a few days after he comes home is unpleasant. Best of luck :)

comment Does using sign language really accelerate a child's ability to speak?
Note that when you say "... learning ASL ...", it'd be more inclusive to say "sign language" here ;-) I'm from Australia, and we sign Auslan here, but your point is valid regardless of country or sign language.
