When is physical punishment appropriate? I suggest you rephrase the question to say "spanking". "Striking" a child implies anger and lack of thought, which in my opinion is absolutely wrong. |

How do you discourage a toddler from hitting people? It's very important to stop this kind of behaviour ASAP. We were not effective early and ended up resorting to cold showers for the offender, which worked (thank goodness). Starting out with Javid's method would have been smart. |

How do you ween a toddler off of breastfeeding? Your answer was very complete dealing with different times during the day. We too substituted more bottle/sippy cup in lieu. Dad doing the bedtime routine was very helpful too. |

When is physical punishment appropriate? This is a good question. Due to its controversy, I don't think people will answer it honestly. It is not publicly acceptable to support spanking your child, yet people still do. I'd leave it here. If people think it is not appropriate for the site, they can down-vote it. It won't get the same exposure on meta. |
