comment What can I do to prevent two well-behaving siblings from turning into a maelstrom of destruction when combined?
not that "not allow", more "their schedules do not allow". Also, while your advice about quiet play is a good one in general, sadly with these 2 it's not useful - they shift to mayhem mode as easily from playing a board game or even reading together as from more boisterous activity.

comment How can I help my son develop a social life? How can I prevent him becoming socially isolated?
@Noah - being a virgin for a man is a symptom of a completely different underlying dynamic than for a woman, in the 21st century.

+1. When I was in college, I spent a lot of time on MUDs.... except a large fraction of that was on PROGRAMMING a MUD that a friend of mine ran. That led to at least one of my part time jobs.

comment What should I look for in a crib?
Also, the last bed in this list is a CLEAR health hazard. Having overhanging sides is a recipe for a child hitting tyhir head when trying to stand.

Some people prefer to express their creativity in things they create - not less common expensive things they buy. Judging people's creativity by their buying patterns is somewhat of a fallacy. And aesthetics is in the eye of the beholder.

@AmyK - lol Yeah, that's why I said what I said in my answer about convertables :)

@wardr - this is more than a site. It's a community. If you wish to participate in community, it is a good idea to follow community's rules. If you LIKE to scoff at the rules, you end up in community of people who scoff at any of the rules YOU may like as well (like "no spam" which I assume is at least one rule you personally would approve of)

comment What would be a reason for a child with good reading skills to “pretend-read” stuff?
Does she read kids books with no problems?

This isn't "going back" though. It's not replacing actual reading in any way - which is a LOT more comfortable for her than this play given how much she does each one.

comment Is it preferable to have “sex talks” vs “all the time education”?
I would strongly prefer answers based on expert info (sexuality research, psychology research, sexual education research) as opposed to pure personal opinion.
