I have been a tester, manager, automator, and release angineer for over 15 years. Working in Windows, *nix and distributed environments I've come in as the first part of QA and built groups or joined existing groups. I like process and am an evangelist for process improvement. I also dabble in tool smithing, while I am not a great coder I stick with it and have built up a nice array of tools over the years in Perl, Ruby and PowerShell. I automate when I can now, as that is my prime passion, and I wear all kinds of hats doing whatever is needed but always handling code from test to production.

I have many interests in cooking, reading, home improvement, MakerSpaces and many more. You'll find me on many SX's here.

I currently work for NaviNet as a Software Engineer in Test II

comment How to go about regaining the trust of my child?
Try to do things she REALLY enjoys then, you need to bring her to a place that she is comfortable and will open up. If your time is limited then try to make it a place you can talk and she will be open to what you say. Sometimes words can help and tell her you can in any way and in as many ways as you can. Basically you have to reestablish a relationship that is actively being destroyed, and when my parents divorce got bitter sometimes all I wanted was a few kind words or an attempt from the other.

comment Are deli cut meats bad for infants?
As long as the meats you give have little preservatives and salt then it shouldn't be doing "bad". Like most things as long as you have a balanced diet and are careful in what the meal contains then you should be ok.

comment How do you convince your son to poop in the toilet?
Yes but sadly this is a battle I won't win...so I just do it when my wife is not home or sneak in when she is not looking. Generally that works unless my oldest is in a mood then he tattles on me...

This would not work in my house, my wife is very anti-reading in the bathroom. I am not sure if it's an Asian or Taiwan or family thing but she yells at me if I bring something to read in there. Even pointing out in the bookstore the numerous bathroom readers hasn't worked.

comment How do I get an easily distracted 5 year old to eat more?
Hungry kids eat more and eat their meal, at least in my experience, you can give better and more rounded nutrition in a meal than in a snack.

Yes, no more meal and snack or not depends on time and activity. Generally he gets nothing more until the next meal, although we do give him drinks (like Yogurt Smoothies or Sidekicks) so he doesn't miss nutrition. The goal is to get him to recognize what mealtime is and is not.

comment How can we improve a trilingual toddler's basic language development?
My own experience says no, all the multilingual kids I have seen speak later than single language kids I know.

comment How Should I React to an Indecisive Toddler?
Very true, I have yet to see a decisive toddler, I worry more about behavior overall rather than moods and choices I know he will grow out of.

comment What's the best way to extract baby snot?
My youngest didn't mind it at first, since he knew it made him feel better and was quiet when we used it. Now he is in a cranky phase and anything you get near to use it you can't hold him still.

comment How do I teach my child to express his frustration?
True, but I've seen that happen regardless. Sometimes just for fun in playing on the sofa
