How do you decide if a movie is suitable for young children? @Shpigford I wouldn't ask "did your child get scared", I would expect my friend to let me if I should be concerned. Watching the movie beforehand isn't actually foolproof - children can be scared by unexpected things. I am not convinced that pre-viewing movies is the best way to spend the limited time that I have for my children, when the bulk of the work has already been done by other parents. I think that the information available at a site like www.commonsensemedia.org is pretty solid. |

Does using sign language really accelerate a child's ability to speak? do you mean that it helps them speak earlier than they would earlier, or that it helps them to communicate earlier by using sign language than by speaking? There is no doubt that children can communicate earlier with their hands than with spoken words. |
