can you explain the "liquid vitamins" a bit more? What liquid vitamins do you include and why?

comment Is it ok for my baby to sleep in his swing?
Our daughter slept in her swing until she was too tall for it (around 6 months). As a newborn (<3 months) she slept a LOT in her swing and seemed to love it - we had it on the maximum recline until she could sit upright. ("flat enough" = they aren't forced to hold their head up). Be absolutely SURE to get into the habit of buckling your kid in. We were lazy in the beginning and didn't use to put the shoulder straps on - but they grow fast, and it might be too late before you realize that you need shoulder straps. Start getting into the habit NOW to buckle them in FULLY.

comment How can I help my kids to sleep comfortably (and safely) on an overnight drive?
I was involved, and injured in a car accident when I was 5 years old. My parents, to allow me to sleep comfortably, let me lie down in the car's back seat. As my dad was driving along, he braked as a motorcyclist came out of "nowhere" to make a left turn (in front of him) as he was going straight. My dad braked hard as to not him. I ended up getting hit by something when he braked. Started bleeding, lost conscience - had to be rushed to the hospital. Don't underestimate the safety of child car seats. They are not a propaganda or for over-cautious parents. They serve a real purpose.

comment Is crib use (mostly) universal?
I sort of felt that parents were being called "too nervous" if they are using cribs, etc. The tone was almost scary :) Parents are too cautious at times, but cribs exist for a very real reason!

comment How often should I bathe my newborn?
Yep, we bathed our baby once a week (or as needed) as well. However, around 9 months, we started doing it daily - she LOVED splashing around in the water. She'd sit in a half-filled baby tub for 30-45 minutes, just playing. We only used soap once a week still, but she'd be in a tub, everyday, before her nap.

comment Is crib use (mostly) universal?
I would like to add that this can, and does, vary for babies. I've had a baby that decided it was a bright idea to just crawl over the pillow cushion, and off the bed. I had another baby that would patiently sit there, surrounded by her pillow cushion, waiting for someone to come get her. BTW, our infant also had a problem "finishing" off her nap in the crib - it was a phase that she went through for a month. After that, it just sort of disappeared :)

1) They aren't needed. Cloth folds very easily. 2) Yes, you can just fold down normal covers until the cord falls off. 3) Yes, they can be used even after the cord falls off.
