comment I don't know if I love my parents
It reminds me of the situation with my nephew. You're obviously very mature for your age, so I won't sugar coat it: talk to a trusted friend or adult (teacher or community leader), and ask for confidential advice. Also, if you're up for it, look up parenting alienation to see what effect the parenting may do to your parents, and it may help you to understand, and start rebuilding your relationship

@Erik Obviously, you need to tell your girlfriend you need to do a scientific experiment.... For science!

I learned a lot more from the fish expert at the store. But I really agree with your comment, but due to the house we're in, it's not very animal friendly. I also don't want rodents for pets, as I remember them stinking, a lot, when in the home. Do you have other suggestions, @laurents?

I like these lessons, and will try explaining the custom/traditions part tonight; I told him the rest already. As for the promise for the dog... He had to keep a fish alive and healthy for 3 years. The pet store said it was not our fault the fish died, as the water was where it was expected to be.

I like that you offer additional solutions, even if the mom can't stand being around the ex. +1 to you.

I probably should have mentioned we've been broken up for 3 years now, the consent order in place for that long

@Erik I read the entire paper that most of that Wiki page was written about last night. It was quite a good read!
