My wife and I have two children ages 9 and 14. We are unschooling and believe in treating children with respect.

How can we make our newborn breastfeed less frequently? To address the last bit (how to do other things while breast feeding), many women are able to position a baby tightly in a sling while breast feeding and thus can move about the house rather than sitting or holding the baby the whole time. A La Leche League leader should be able to help if you don't know others who have used slings. |

We're looking to get pregnant - what can we do to optimize our chances? I have to agree with a number of the shorter answers below - if you have not yet tried to get pregnant without success for 3-4 months, do not assume in advance that you will have trouble. Just try it without planning for a bit before trying to "optimize" your chances. |

Should you let a toddler win? I find that the tricky part is realizing when they have progressed to the point that their proposed move may be better than what you had in mind. It seems my 9-yo beats me all the time in some games such as backgammon, so her level of risk tolerance in this game must be better than mine! |

saving uneaten dinner for breakfast? Is the problem then that he doesn't come back, and you're worried about him eating enough, or that he asks for food later and you find it inappropriate to pass up a meal and then ask for food before the next one? |
