comment step daughter poured cold water on my baby's head?
You are not setting proper boundaries that protect your dignity as well as hers. I'm that others have elaborated on this point in ways that you're probably more ready to hear. Remember that you cannot set a good example for how she should be moral and self-respecting if you cannot stand with your own self-respect.

Good also for you to include the advice that was given to you by the child's development counselor / doctor that you have been seeing regarding his speech development. That way we [could have seen] what guidance you were already working with. Your child crying when they are punished is health and normal — they should not like punishment; and crying is typical a child's mechanism to control the parents' behavior.

comment What is the term for the wool like stuff that secretes between the newborn's hand fingers?
@user462608 it sounds like you're saying the doc said the lint was (itself) a secretion. If so, I urge you with all my sincerity, go now and find a doctor that given a sht. *This one does not

given the answer, if your doctor told you "not to worry about these kind of secretions" then I'd suggest the doctor isn't paying much attention to the situation, and may put your baby at risk. I encourage you to tell them this directly if you decide to switch.

comment I suspect my teenager is using illegal drugs; what should I do?
(That is, unless you're one of those parents who thinks it's ok to steer your children away from a solid educational foundation)

comment How do you respond to a teenager who declares that he isn't interested in college?
@Beofett I'm commenting here so that this thread is not misleading. You and the small fraction like you are not the mainstream case - and your suggestions are misleading, and inappropriate for recommendations. You and I are in similar situations, and I'd never advocate it prosaically.

@Beofett if your family doesn't have connections, upon which you can learn from professional & worldly life experiences, then learning in spite of the crap educational system is your only way out of a life-long wage slavery. There's no shame in facing that reality. Pollyanna-ism won't make reality go away

@Beofett you mistake a bad representation for a bad system. Schools and teachers can not work, but learning is an institution that is fundamental to consciousness.

@kiev, glad to see that you're among the sane parents that understand the pivotal importance of education, and the dire consequences in its absence.
