When should a child stop using a pacifier, and how can I help with this transition? +1 from me. We used this with our two daughters - worked with no fuss or crying. We did take a wee while to find all the ones hidden round the house:-) |

How can I teach my son to ride a bike? @Hairy - I'm with you on this. I'm so proud of my eldest. He came third in the regional schools triathlon this week :-) My youngest learned to cycle in one afternoon at age 4. The other two learned at a younger age but took a couple of days. |

Should we use a smiley chart to reward/punish our toddler? @HedgeMage - that was sort of my point. I was talking about how even at 4 they were just getting to grips with a good day:-) |

How do you explain “Right” and “Left” politics to a child without bias? My viewpoint is definitely not worth an answer, but as I am staggeringly cynical I am teaching my children that there is no difference between most political parties and politicians - they are all corrupt and self serving, with the sole aim of remaining in power. Their only connection with the population is not to provide better lifestyles, but to get votes. This may not be appropriate in all countries, but it defeinitely is in the UK and US! |

Should we circumcise our son? What? I'm certainly not missing anything - I would recommend it on erogenous grounds alone, based on my experience, and my son had it done on medical grounds. glad for both of us. |

How important is stability / change / lack of change for children? +1 for letting them sometimes earn a removed treat back by being good. This really works well! |

How can you deal with tantrums without spanking? sending to the room is punishment enough, usually. What sort of punishment are you wanting to give a ten year old? |

At what age should siblings stop sharing their bedroom? @hawbsl - I can't find any legislation on requiring separation of sexes. It seems to be a general recommendation, but not law. |
