comment The great debate: Minivan or SUV
AWD and 4WD can give drivers a sense of invincibility, but technology can only do so much. If you hit an icy bend with too much speed physics guarantees you're going off the road.

Ok BA, drop the A-Team paint job and maybe she'll go for it then!

I got my wires crossed there, I meant to write 3 years and wrote 14 months instead!

comment Child suddenly saying things like I'm not his friend
Kids pick things up at day care and try them out, many times they don't understand what it really means. Just let it slide.

comment How to teach my daughter to get the shampoo rinsed out of her hair throughly?
When he gets too much shampoo in his hair tell him you'd just as soon kiss a wookie.

Definitely @JBRWilkinson, forget about late nights. Turning in early is the way to go!

And avoid lots of booze as well, it doesn't help much to be hung over and tired.

comment If a 4 year old is afraid to swim is it better to keep trying or wait?
@MegCoates, you should put that as an answer

comment Is it safe for one-year old baby to sleep in her car seat for long hours?
I agree with @jpatokal, as a veteran of many long road trips both as a child passenger and then a driver, 8 hours in the car is about the limit for a single parent driving with children. A one year old is going to find it very difficult to be in the seat even for that long. Be realistic and plan lots of extra time.

Good one @DA01! Maybe politics as well!

comment How to know whether your child is being bullied?
It's not likely to work, no. Building good communications doesn't mean that the child is going to tell you everything, in fact the older they get the less they will tell. It's about making the child comfortable to tell you if they want to. You can't make them want to.

comment At what month of pregnancy should the DHA intake be started?
I would agree with @TorbenGundtofte-Bruun, this is asking nutrition, not health advice and is our of scope for the forum. I don't think many on this forum would be able to answer your question anyway.

comment At what age should I explain to my kids that we don't believe in God?
I'm not religious myself, but I think your question is going to be offensive to those who are which is not what this forum is about. I think you have a fair parenting question, but it needs work.

comment Toddler Plays in Bed and Won't go to Sleep
@Dave, it's unusual that a bath gets a kid fired up, usually the opposite as it is supposed to relax them, but all kids are different.

comment How can I tell parents of a 1-year-old that they're doing it wrong?
Humans tend to fall back to what they know when they're under pressure, and for many military types that means lots of shouting, which doesn't work with children. As painful as it is to see the only reason it is your problem is that it is in your house.

Right @mmr, It's used in the UK for sure, I've heard it in the US as well, but not as much.

comment What do you do when your child's Christmas Wishlist is full of things you cannot get her?
haha! I love it, the old high-ball technique, and she's just a kid! "I want a little sister! I want a little sister!" "Ok, how about a puppy then?"

Santa is a big lie in the first place. If a parent has a desire not to poke a hole into the Christmas myth then lies are part of the game.
