comment Should adults pay rent if they live in their parents' home?
Paying board, doing chores and helping with the running of a household is (IMHO) part of growing up and part of a child's education. You are not doing them any favours by mollycoddling them into their twenties (thirties, forties - when does it stop?).

comment At what age should I explain to my kids that we don't believe in God?
Our children are being raised as Muslims in a historically Christian country (Australia). Children start getting bombarded with Christmas (religious and santa) from the age of 4. It becomes an issue quite early on. I agree that atheism should be framed as a belief system in any such discussions if only to make it easier to explain that different people believe different things.

comment Why is my child always tired?
@Doug - Not really possible to do the earlier bed time - we both work fulltime. It's not a bad idea to try and get a bit more sleep into him, though.

comment When do kids start learning fractions in school?
@euroman - manipulating fractions is pretty much mandatory in algebra. Plus there are many real-world cases where fractions are just easier (unless you have a calculator on hand).

comment How can I make learning English fun for a 14 year old?
@ChristineGordon - IMHO, less so. Audio books tend to be read at the rate of a native speaker. When learning a language, it is handy to be able to stop and examine each word, possible out of order. If you don't understand a sentence, you can examine each word and guess the ones you don't know given the greater context. This is something you can not really do with an audio book.
