I am a former classroom teacher that has had experience in the preschool, elementary and highschool settings but mostly taught in middle school in the United States. My favorite teaching years were the three I spent teaching science in a specialized setting for twice-exceptional kids in Middle School Science and Highschool biology. I am now a home educator for my 7-year-old daughter and nanny part time. I have a book I am working on publishing and a children's book.

comment My six year old is afraid of the shower. How do I help her transition?
We're still working on it, but she is warming up to the idea - I'm surprised she still wants me to aim the sprayer - I really thought letting her control it would be more helpful.

"nothing can be done about it. So move on?" absolutely incorrect. It is not an excuse so please don't infer it is one. These kids needs special helps and supports to get through certain skills. Their brains are actually wired differently and there are entirely different ways to help them learn certain skills and subjects.

When I was pregnant, my OB said one cup of a beverage with caffeine per day would probably be fine, but much more is not healthy for the baby. That was six years, ago so I don't know if the going thought on the matter has changed.

@Shauna LOVES avacados! Perhaps because it has fats she isn't otherwise getting. We do use good old-fashioned butter as a spread on toasts and things and I usually use olive oil for cooking. I'll go over to cooking for more ideas thanks!
