I am a former classroom teacher that has had experience in the preschool, elementary and highschool setting but mostly taught in middle school in the United States. My favorite teaching years were the three I spent teaching science in a specialized setting for twice-exceptional kids in Middle School Science and Highschool biology. I am now a home educator for my 6-year-old daughter and nanny part time. I have a book I am working on publishing and a children's book and have a blog about educating kids pinchxeverything.blogspot.com.

I'm sorry, you're correct, However, most of those things can have been expected to be outgrown long before five for most children - even the breaking most or all toys and tearing books part. Kids at five might have one or two lingering "habits" but with these circumstances, when taken in the context with the rest of the information, it is a stretch to say this stuff is "normal" for this child's age. I should not have used "outgrowing," I should have said "outgrown."

Actually, by 5 years old, a lot of these examples should be things he is outgrowing - such as tearing up books, not understanding how not to break all his toys and by now, he definitely should not be peeing and pooping anywhere but the toilet unless extenuating circumstances (such as feeling ill or having to wait way too long because of travel time or something). He should also be showing signs he is developing a sense of rudimentary humor (although very rudimentary) or I'd probably have said the same thing.

Ha! That's funny. This is the one church in our area that felt warm and welcoming. Funny you should link it here. No kids though so no Sunday school program or anything. We do attend there on occasion as a threesome - I wish we were in an area with a larger congregation. We loved the one we went to closer to the city where there were more people and a "family" congregation.

Welcome to the site! As this question is nearly duplicated, and is likely to produce a list. I'm not sure this is the right place for it, but I will offer this one idea: There are TONS of options when you just consider the different options as dictated by language that would distinguish you if you really feel you need distinguishing. Do you have a non-english heritage? Perhaps Omah? Nonni? Also, even though they are both Blood grandfather's my daughter refers to one as papa and the other as an animal he resembles. I have a friend who calls her's "Reddy Fox." Just pick something u like.
