Should I supplement children's education at home? It can depend on the child, but building friendships is a skill set that children should learn. It may be hard, but if the peer group is a bad one, the difficulty of building new friendships can sometimes significantly outweigh the future cost of having friends that devalue education. |

What are the biggest expenses for a new baby? Sorry - that seems miserable. 3K deductible implies HDHP, which might be a good idea, but these type of events make it difficult. Also, 3 days of induction is why more and more doctors think inducing should only be for signs of medical distress by the baby, not because it's been "too long" - but it's hard to make that case to your own doctor. |

Ventilation holes in matress for newborn @TorbenGundtofte-Bruun : Lack of ventilation isn't a cause of SIDS. Suffocation is a risk if a baby is placed in a position where they cannot breathe, but it's unconnected to SIDS. This gets confused in the United States because sometimes coroners and others will call a death SIDS when it is unintentional suffocation, since otherwise it can trigger a mandatory criminal or child abuse investigation, but that does not change the medical question of what occurred. |

How can I encourage my 4 month old to roll over from tummy to back? You should probably wait, and continue with tummy time and allowing her to fuss sometimes. Babies typically start doing this between 3-6 months; you are still in the middle of the normal range. There is no reason to expect that your child is going to want or attempt to do so until the child is ready. |
