What to buy to prepare for the arrival of a new baby? On holding off on the car seat (via @JBRWilkinson), hospitals in the UK won't let you take the baby home without seeing you've got a seat first. So you'd either need to buy one or have a friend who already owns one (most taxi companies can't/won't provide baby seats). |

Are there any non-soy, non-dairy infant formulas? The info you refer to on the Mayo Clinic has no references. Rule number one: always question scientific writing that does not list its sources. Quoting "a recent study" isn't enough. With regard to isoflavones (the phytoestrogens the Mayo Clinic refers to), it's important to note that the FDA have accepted that Soy-Based Infant Formulas are safe to use as the sole source of nutrition (see: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15113975). |
