The link is very interesting, thanks. But the point I'm trying to get at in my question is more whether this will get out of control, to the point that she wouldn't eat without playing the game.

LauraJ: she's been using utensils herself for awhile now; it's more that I've discovered this trick to get past her inner block, but I'm not sure that this will only have positive effects.

Sure, I understand that they want to explore the object. But why do pretty much all babies (from what I've seen) perform this exact same movement? They could just as easily wave their arms left-and-right instead of up-and-down.
