Help child overcome fear of water on head Not sure how to force her to do something that she must voluntarily do, but she generally panics even if she gets wet accidentally. But like I commented above, she's been getting better. |

Help child overcome fear of water on head Update: at 30 months one day I gave her a shower instead of a bath (she'd been playing in the sandbox). It was her first one and I think she liked the novelty and the fact that it's what mommy and daddy do. During this shower, I managed to get her to tilt her head back ("look at the ceiling") and rinse her hair with the shower head. I think I sprung it on her quickly enough that she didn't have time to think it over. Anyway, it's definite progress... |

Help child overcome fear of water on head Hmm, I don't think it has anything to do with suffocation. She'll flip if we get water in her eyes, even if they're closed. She also doesn't like water in her ears. |

Help child overcome fear of water on head Giving her control doesn't work - I can tell her to wet her hair, but she refuses to do anything beyond wetting her hands then putting them in her hair. |

What stories for children have strong female role models? Thanks - I'll look into it. I'm aware that stories can be looked at in several ways; what bothers me is the ubiquity of the subordinate female. I haven't crossed any stories so far where a female character is definitely the competent, leading hero. |

Toddler assigns ownership to everything Good idea - I'll have to try working in the "where does it go" part. |

Do baby walkers help with reflux? I've also heard that walkers are not good, but more because it gets in the way of their learning to walk. |

How can I potty train a 12 month old? I know a family who flew to Vietnam to adopt a child. They said that at the orphanage there, all the kids were just naked, and the supervisors would swoop in to clean up when the need arose. |
