comment What to do about 1 year old boy who keeps pulling hard at his penis and scrotum?
Clenching the legs sounds weird, but if you say there's no sign for pain guess it's all good. My own son is nearly 2 years old by now, and he's doing it only in bath, though not really as hard as you describe. Anyway hope the advice in the answer would help you! :)

While I agree with this answer, there is a chance he's doing it because something irritates him there. Did you go to a doctor for a close inspection? Also, does he cry while doing it? Or show any sign of pain? (not due to pulling, before that)

Fair enough, and it even gave you two hats. :)

I don't think this got anything to do with sex, thus I re-tagged.

comment How to handle my baby boy urinating in bath?
@bjarkef weird, in my country all doctors encourage daily bath. Guess each country and its own habits.

I revised the question to make it more readable, hope it's OK.

comment How to get my son to sleep earlier
As long as he sleeps OK and at least 12 hours per day I think it's all good and no real need to make him go to sleep earlier. As parents, we usually need to adjust to our child's needs, not the other way around. :)

comment Encopresis: how can we encourage our child to clean himself or ask for help immediately instead of ignoring the dirty underwear?
I read this answer twice, once when seeing it yesterday and again now. While using "I pooped my pants" sticker sounds like something offensive/shaming towards the kid, the context and the good cause makes it bearable and more: I think I would also use same method, if forced into a corner by the kid like that. My daughter shows initial sign of such behavior, hopefully it will be sorted out by itself, she's only 4. Anyway glad you found the golden path, I can understand how hard it must have been.

Maybe try putting weak batteries? Not sure it would work hence just suggesting as a comment.

Nice! This might even be worthy of skeptics.stackexchange.com, don't you think? :)

comment Three year old able to poo in the toilet but still pees in his nappy
@DaveClarke yes, in my opinion punishments are part of education. Should be used sparsely and only when other ways fails, but still... without any punishment the child will eventually realize he can do anything without any consequences, which is bad.

@DaveClarke that's a thin line indeed but when the child is well aware what he is doing is wrong then punishment might be a proper course of action. Toilet training is not imprinted in our DNA, if our parents wouldn't educate us to "go to the toilet the way they want" as you put it, how will we learn exactly? For some children it comes naturally, some need more patience and guidance, that's all.

@user7830 what you mean stopped at school? If he needs to "go number 2" while at school he's holding until getting home? Also, please use @ when replying so that we'll see the reply.

It might be psychological, i.e. he's enjoying the act and does not understand why it's wrong. Did you try visiting a psychologist?

@adipro well, you can always try the "carrot and stick" approach. Carrot first of course, tell him that if he pee in toilet you will give him a prize. What we do with our daughter (to this day and she's nearly 4) is in the middle: when she want to watch TV we tell her "first go to toilet", and it works.

@BBM good point about cleaning, didn't think about it. But no different from cleaning when doing it with underwear, just with lower risk that it will, eh, "overflow". As for other kids making fun of him, if it's messing pants vs. messing a diaper, well, I don't think it matters that much. And if the teachers will explain to the other children it's due to medical reasons, it might help.

Well, if you give up on trying to "fix" this, maybe let him wear diaper, at least for school? This way he will feel more comfortable, thick diaper should block most of the smell and it should be easier to change.
