comment How can I avoid my girlfriend getting depressed over studies?
I think this question is off-topic for Parenting, but might be on-topic for Math Educators.

comment How to minimize diaper usage or replace it with greener alternatives
Well, they're wrong when they overdo it. Some level of decorum in public would be appreciated.

comment Removing mould from baby clothing
I believe sunlight (UV) should help kill mould, but I don't have enough experience to state that as an answer.

Correction: MIT objects to being associated with the guide, so now it's called the Document Formerly Known as the MIT Guide to Lockpicking.

comment Preschooler can't sing, but sings anyway - loudly!
I try to videotape my kids' spontaneous musical performances, but for some reason they always clam up as soon as they realize they are on camera. =)

comment Reading in second language for a bilingual kid - how to approach a phonetic language vs. English phonics?
Czech and Russian orthography are more rational than English orthography, right? That's an argument for learning Czech first!

comment How to single handedly bathe a newborn?
There are plenty of baby bathtubs on the market with an inclined non-slip back. You'll get a year's use out of it at most, but I've found it very helpful for a baby who can't sit up straight yet.

comment Restricting infant on almost every move
Upvoted for the rephrasing suggestions. Rephrasing is important for two reasons: 1) just saying no would result in a series of apparently arbitrary prohibitions, which would be frustrating for the child and lead to more probing of the boundaries; 2) the more you use the N-word now, the more likely it will get thrown back at you when the child learns to talk.

comment What age is it appropriate to start martial arts?
Excellent response. I would add one more criterion for choosing an instructor for a young child: you want one who teaches methodically and isolate complicated techniques down to individual movements. A young child would have a hard time moving their hand and foot at the same time unless the instructor takes the time to practice those bits separately in class.
