comment What should be the ideal sleeping posture in the third trimester of pregnancy?
I think that it's believed that sleeping on the left side puts less pressure on the vena cava as well. But some articles are now saying it doesn't really matter which side you sleep on, while at least one article I ran across said sleeping on the right can perhaps increase the chance of stillbirth. I think, though, when you're 9 months pregnant, the reality is that you can only sleep on one side for so long before you have to roll over and get comfortable again. FWIW, I broke my left shoulder when I was pg with my daughter and couldn't sleep on my left side at all, and she's fine.

+1 for the reminder. Having that built-in prep makes things so much easier for a 5-year-old. You can even take that 5-10 minutes and say, "Can I help you get to a stopping place?"

comment My wife want a 4th baby, but I don't
a) Is it that you don't want anymore kids right now or anymore kids period? b) Even though the majority of the most emotion-inducing hormones have regulated themselves by 9 months post partem, I think most women will tell you that it takes a good 2 years before you start feeling emotionally "normal" again after having a baby. So she might just be suffering from being overly emotional and overly sentimental right now about having an infant in the house. On the flip side of that, some women legitimately LOVE having an infant in the house. You need to find out from her where she is.

comment What should I do when my daughter's health is affected by the cats at my parents home when we visit?
After my mom saw how bad the bites were after Thanksgiving, she felt extremely guilty and immediately took measures to eliminate the fleas. They weren't in the bed, they were apparently in the carpet! Since my kids play in the floor a lot, it's not surprising that she got bitten. Since then, we've visited my parents a couple of times and returned with no flea bites so apparently the solution worked. Sadly, my parents just had to put this cat down so they are currently cat-less. On the plus side, hopefully that means no cat-related issues including fleas anymore!

My 5-year-old is in a similar phase right now. I have no suggestions on fixing the behavior, just wanted you to know you're not alone!

comment 3 year old will not take a nap some days
@Aitch: Of course it wasn't ideal. Lots of 3-year-olds are still napping--mine just didn't happen to be one of them. If I'd had my way, he would have continued to nap until he was 4. Not sure why this particular point illicited such a snarky response from you.

comment Is it harmful to let a 4 month old baby eat an Easter peep?
We don't actually know that the child was "endangered". The OP merely said that her friend "gave her 4 month old baby an Easter peep", she did not stipulate the method in which the peep was delivered. For all we know, the mother pureed the peep in a blender first or only gave the baby a tiny nibble which was virtually impossible to choke on. If the mother did indeed give the child a piece of ANY food that was too large for the child to chew and swallow properly, then the issue truly becomes one of endangerment and NOT a matter of what she fed the child.

comment Should we cut our infant's hair?
FWIW: We first cut my son's hair when he was six months old. He's five now and he has plenty of hair. Other than a cowlick that makes it stick up in the back, there's nothing wrong with his hair. I am 100% sure that the cow-lick had nothing to do with getting it cut @ 6 months.

child to school doesn't absolve you from being involved in your child's education.

comment Does daycare mentally damage children under three?
Well, I do tend to agree with him somewhat. I do know people who drop their kids off at daycare, pick them up in the afternoon, and interact very little with their children during the hours they do see them--nights, weekends, and holidays included. However, I know other parents who try to make every moment they have with their children count even if they do attend daycare during the day. But to lay all the blame at the feet of the daycares is misleading. Just because you send your child to daycare does not absolve you of your parenting responsibilities in the same way that sending your
