comment How to single handedly bathe a newborn?
By seated on her back, I meant sitting. How else should I have said it?

comment Why does my mother expect me to behave like others and herself?
@ThorbjørnRavnAndersen I am from India. so, -- and that unless something change very drastically she will not be seeing her grandkid(s) as much as she could?-- talking like this is NOT normal here. It is simply not permitted. Saying something like this will be burning the bridges permanently. Have you informed your mother why things are as they are, Yes, but talking to her is like talking to walls. She wants to take me to a mental doctor so that I can start behaving like "other normal people" do.

@ThorbjørnRavnAndersen I have learnt that one way to win a battle is simply not to appear for the battle. I have stopped telling her most of the happenings of my life so that she gets least chance to interfere.

+1 for It's worrying that his go-to action to get your attention is self-harm.

-1 You said: "You were most likely a loving mom (and still are), yet he is treating you with openly hurtful disrespect....You did not do anything to deserve this" --- How do you know all this? Well, I don't know anything about the OP but I do know that you can't clap with a single hand. My mother also loves me very much and wants me to be happy, but I hate her: parenting.stackexchange.com/q/7691/2221 If she would have created such a question here, it seems to me you would have given her the same reply you gave OP here-- without knowing the story from my side :/.

comment How strict should I be with my 9 month old?
You wrote a very frightening story about the way to stop the baby from crying. I wonder if that is real and I am frightened.

comment Toddler is ignored by other person/child. Should I let her learn the lesson or should I step in and entertain her?
You haven't explained what would happen by the other two methods and why should your method be followed.

You haven't explained what would happen if I let her suffer and do not intervene nor you have talked about why w.r.t your answer.

@Joe Have you read this on the right side of the question box parenting.stackexchange.com/questions/ask : Opinions should be backed up either with a reference, ***or experiences that happened to you personally.***

comment Do children start believing in fairies and magic after being read from a book? If yes, then how to respond to “but the book says it is true”?
@anongoodnurse I had written replies here to you and the other person. Why have they been deleted?

That is the problem. I don't know how to discuss that such that a child can understand when to steal and when not to.

Did you believe this at one time? Do you know anyone who believed it at one time? Actually me and my cousins didn't have access to any of these kind of fairy tales in our childhood. All of us here came to know about them when we were grown up enough. So, I don't know whether children do believe in these stories or not.

I'd be grateful if you could expand more on how to explain this in your answer: "If you later say, "Magic isn't real," and your child says, "But my book said it is!" — you've already got a groundwork explanation of what imagination and pretend are all about, and you can bring that information back together."

Harry potter can be read by older children. I am talking about the children who have just started to understand the stories.
