Computer scientist working on programming language design, formal methods for software product line engineering and security, with a smattering of logic and coordination in there for good measure.

comment Can too much water lower the level of an important minerals? In 11 months toddler?
One could consider substitutes, such as milk, juice or warm herbal tea, to ensure that some nutrients join the liquid.

Wait until 3 year old is old enough to see them, and then who cares ... I think this is off topic.

comment Sun Bathing to get Vitamin D for infants
In Australia, this would be a definite NO. The risk of skin cancer is far too high.

comment Eight month infant not sitting on her own in full control
Sounds a bit delayed, but not too bad. If you let her spend plenty of time on her tummy, she'll develop the muscle strength to be able to sit up.

comment Toddler Pooping Problems
Sounds like there's a lot of pressure to poo right. Maybe you just need to ride it out and not see it as a medical problem. If you stop stressing about it, she might become more relaxed about it. Also, I read that you shouldn't take Miralax for more than two weeks. Why not just stick with the Fiber Gummies, and ease up on the poor kid?

comment How can I explain “adult beverages” to my preteen?
My point is more that adult society is probably not always what establishes the norms about drinking, it will often be the peers.

What about the drinking habits of their peers? Perhaps this doesn't occur much in pre-teens, but it is not unheard of in teens.

comment What's the cleanest way to change a diaper on an airline flight?
If you'd written "twins" in the question, I wouldn't have had a clue what help to offer. Poo is natural and babies are particularly good at it.....

comment How to deal with the child who is embrassed to see her parent in her school because the parent can't speak English?
This is a classic case of the TV advertisement appealing to our insecurities, and not actual real life.

comment What's the harm if I let my infant drink all her semi solid food through her bottle til she turns one year old?
Welcome to parenthood. You need to make the choices, in spite of near constant infant obstruction. This includes encouraging them to develop by learning new skills, even though they'll be horrible at them at first.

Regarding the "dangerous" point – is that really the fault of the walkers?

Sounds like your daughter is not far from walking. A walker isn't necessary, now (if ever).

comment Do we NEED to help a baby learn how to self-sooth? And how long can it take?
We have never transferred our daughter from the big bed to the crib, not in 2 years. She's never fallen out either.

I suspect that you need to do research in scientific journals, rather than rely on second hand knowledge.
