Getting young children to take meds How old is your son? |

3 year old has a fit when arriving at daycare My oldest son (now 4) had a hard time because he was overwhelmed by the noise and sight of so many children. Part of our "leaving routine" was to stop at the door before we went in and get prepared. I would get down on his level and say "There's a lot of children in there." He'd reply "It's a wild rumpus." Then I'd say, "Ready?" and he'd take a deep breath and reply "Ready!" (or say "not yet I need a hug first" or something) and then we'd go in. It really helped. |

Toddler has a strong preference for one parent I wonder if it is because she has recently noticed how big your husband is and feels a little scared of being too close to him. Will she jump/play/crawl on him if he is lying on the floor? |

How to approach my little brother's addiction to TV and computer? +1 for being a role model. OP isn't a parent, but a brother. The very best thing he can do is be a good brother, as you've suggested. |

What do we do to minimize negative impact to our child when we (the parents) argue? And don't forget to never, ever ask your child to take sides in an argument, or to set your partner up as "wrong" or "bad" for having a different idea/opinion/approach than you. |

How to avoid corporal punishment? When I have both my boys and Daddy isn't home, the eldest likes to "help" by reading his brother a book and singing him a song. Then I'll ask him to get his pajamas on, brush his teeth, and pick out his bedtime books while he is waiting for me. And if I am still not done with his brother, he'll get his lovies ready for bed and read books and sing to them too. |

Is my pediatrician missing something about my 3 month old's gas pain? And don't forget that while foodstuffs may be different, there might be ingredients in common. Many prepared foods have soy or corn products in them, for instance. |

How can we discipline a strong-willed, misbehaving 5 year-old? +1 for the carrots. I had the same thought. As parents, we focus so much on correcting behavior that we often forget to tell our children what they are doing right. |

Any suggestions on how to control yelling and negativity on our part, and also teach my 8 yr old son to not feel so helpless and cry so easily? +1 for the observation that parents must model appropriate behavior for their children. Your son yells when he doesn't get his way because that's what you do. That's how you have taught him to behave. If you want your child to be calm, you must also be calm. |

Why is my baby crying? Good for you for realizing that it is hard to think when the baby is crying. We wrote a list that we posted over the changing table for exactly this reason. |

Why is my baby crying? I agree that hobos should be removed, and feel that clowns should be added to the list. |

How can I encourage my 4.5 year old daughter to eat without needing tons of time along with play? Then don't give her milk after dinner or lunch. |

16 months old and no signs of communication. Should we be concerned? Also keep in mind that in general, boys develop language more slowly than girls. |
