by "forward roll", do you mean "somersault"?

comment Is it safer to install a back seat car seat behind the driver or behind the passenger?
@paulH the question isn't about front-vs-back, it's about left-vs-right :)

@LaurentS. putting the seat in the middle does nothing for rear visibility in any vehicle I have ever been in

My aunt didn't start speaking til age 3 - but she started with full sentences. Most likely, he doesn't feel a need to.

@Joe - it's commonly used in religious services to indicate when the entire congregation is doing something together :)

comment How young is too young to switch to a toddler bed?
not an answer - we had to move our 14.5 month old out of his crib into a toddler bed because he was climbing out of the crib

comment First pet (fish) just died. Is there a teachable moment?
When my first fish died (I was about 6), I found out after coming home one evening. My first, and only, reaction was to ask my parents if I could have another one after we flushed that one.

comment How can I persuade a preschooler to wear a suit?
you don't "persuade" a preschooler to do anything, really - you're the parent, they are the child. In a parent-child relationship, persuasion may be a tool used sometimes, but often enough it is a command relationship. You don't see a Colonel trying to "persuade" a Corporal to do something in the Army.

comment I want to expose my 5-year-old daughter to boys and girls toys equally, but she just turned her nose up at Star Wars. What do I do?
at 5, I would've turned up my nose at Star Wars stuff too ... I had a Yoda puppet, but used it as a shovel in the sand box

comment How can I instigate or spark an interest for math to my 14 year old daughter?
to quote my late aunt, a math tutor, "When we were in grade school we had '3 plus box equals 7'. In algebra we traded the box for an X, and everybody freaked out.'

comment Is plane flight safe for a newborn?
@Ida - it's made at every gate call I've heard in the last decade ... probably on the order of 1000 or more that I've either been on or heard next to me

comment Is plane flight safe for a newborn?
@Ida - sure you can: it's part of why they do gate announcements telling you to check with the gate attendant if you're flying with an infant, but do not have the words infant-in-arms on your boarding pass.

"you still need a ticket for the baby" - this is only for counting/manifest purposes, and does not affect the cost of your flight: changing from a "normal" ticket to an "infant-in-arms" is free with every airline I've flown on

comment Should I let my child play with gun toys?
even if you don't allow your children to play with them, they'll turn bananas, sticks, etc into them

comment Disney, Dreamworks and Pixar: What is the appropriate age to start showing their films to a child?
it wasn't a "kid's movie" .. it was a film adaptation of a story aimed at an older audience :)

comment Disney, Dreamworks and Pixar: What is the appropriate age to start showing their films to a child?
JM Barrie's "Peter & Wendy" is pretty overtly sexual in the way girls vie for Peter's attention :)
