I am a teacher of Navi to 6th and 7th graders as well as a technology teacher to grades k-3 in a Jewish Day School in Stamford, CT. I am married and have four wonderful children who keep me on my toes.

How do you handle unsupervised, poorly behaved children in public play areas? Yes, sorry, I mean undiscipling parents (that isn't a word, but I think it makes sense) |

12 month old doesn't understand what we say If people tell me where they are from I am happy to do some research. It is not hard to find the info you need on the internet these days, and knowing that these things exist some places is helpful to know what to look for. First step, as stated is dr. |

12 month old doesn't understand what we say the state of CT has it, but my understanding is many places have some sort of program, at least in the states. |

How to teach a 2 year old to go on the toilet? Sit him on the toilet to 'finish'. He is trying, obviously, he just doesn't recognize the feeling in time. Try to see if you can figure what time of day it happens and get him on the toilet preemptively. Keep in mind that this is developmentally normal and he will get it, just give him time. |

How do I explain the difference in responsibilities and privileges between the oldest and youngest child? @AndreasBonini I think Johann was jesting a bit. As well, along with the law you have to consider the social implications of the time. |

What is the best way to have multiple monitors for more than one child? Twins or close in age don't seem to apply to the senerio described. |

What is the best way to have multiple monitors for more than one child? I am not clear why you need a monitor for your two year old. Be careful that the two year old doesn't get 'addicted' to being able to get you whenever at night. By two, assuming the child is healthy, he/she should probably be able to go without it. |

Teaching a child to navigate bullying (or perceived bullying) Our school is actually working with the ADL in the middle school grades, so maybe I will mention to the admin that they should speak to them about the lower grades as well. |

Guided Meditation for Children I started with this, but she was getting attached to me being in her bed. I did not want this nor can I maintain this as I have 3 other children. |

How can I stop my two year old from taking off his diaper in bed? This was genius. WE actually cut feet off a pair as we didn't have any of that type without feet. Thank you so much for the help!!! |

How do I encourage my toddler to work on his spoken language? @Anon or continue to anticipate, give him the words, and then have him repeat. He may be at a loss at to what you want. |

Getting a 2-year-old back to sleep in the middle of the night I see your point and have read about it many times, sorry if I insulted you, I just wanted to make a point. I respect your opinion and I am glad we can agree to respectfully disagree. |

Getting a 2-year-old back to sleep in the middle of the night Strongly disagree with continually returning, he will learn he can have you at night. |

evaluating social/emotional development What do you mean what is the point @tomjedrz ? Social/emotional is just as important as academic development and some would say more important. Ensuring that my kids are on track is extremely important to ensuring a happy well adjusted child. |

How and when might I start teaching the language of music? first second third is a very large concept for a young one, much harder than counting. It isn't usually even introduced in schools until Kindergarten or first grade! |
