Fostering a relationship with a relative your child doesn't like +1 I agree with you, however, don't you think being polite and socially appropriate is an important thing to teach. As well, how do you get the relative to accept the child's boundaries, set up by the child? You have no control of the relative's reactions. And further more, in this case the relative does not respond appropriately but rather becomes a child and reacts with meanness toward the child. |

Fostering a relationship with a relative your child doesn't like @DA01 I don't particularly like this relative either, however children don't necessarily keep their feelings to them selves out of respect for their elder. I suppose I will add to the question that this may be a solution, however I would love to know how to teach this. |

At what age or developmental milestones is it safe to leave children unattended? I started a chat room about this as I think that is what this is turning into, however, I have been unable to post a question and I don't have time to deal with this now, but will try in the morning to get it up and working. I am not sure how they work on this site, but I am trying it out. |

At what age or developmental milestones is it safe to leave children unattended? I agree it does have to do with other things other than age such as maturity, knowing what to do in a given situation, being able to entertain herself. However age also has something to do with it, just because she is mature doesn't mean she isn't 7 and therefore does 7 year old behaviors that are NOT conducive to staying home alone, even for a short time. |

How to help a child understand why she'll move back to her old school again? It has to do with her learning style, but I am not sure a 4.5 year old can understand that. |

At what age or developmental milestones is it safe to leave children unattended? @afrazier sounds like you will only be doing it to placate her, at age 7 it is not a choice, it is a necessity that she participates in grocery shopping if you need to go because she is a child. |

At what age or developmental milestones is it safe to leave children unattended? @afrazier Don't you think there is a middle ground between 7 and 15? 7 is still very young for alot of things they may seem mature enough for. I have an 8 year old daughter who has been older than her age from birth and probably could be safe searching youtube or staying home alone but that doesn't mean she needs to do it. |

Is AnimalJam a good and safe place for kids online and does it merit paying for the membership? I would broaden this question to not be specific to one website, but how to evaluate websites in general. Below I answered both questions. |

How can I help my 6-year old Cousin eat healthier? I am a little bit confused. Are you a niece or the aunt? In other words, are you a peer of this child or a grown up? |

At what age or developmental milestones is it safe to leave children unattended? Very true (both my husband and I work full time) however research should be done either into after school activities or a friend that can help out. I sometimes have an 8th grade student stay with my kids briefly and then I help her with her homework instead of paying her. |
