Have studies shown whether toys that feature guns or other weapons prominently promote violent behavior? Interesting. I wonder what you think about dart guns or other such unrealistic weaponry |

Pre-teen always sneaking junk food Ok. All the more reason to not let her think she's fat, because of concern of developing an eating disorder down the road. I think the point of this answer is that she's old enough to start making wise choices (with your help). Could emphasize the "diabetes epidemic" ("Sedentary lifestyles and the modern banquet of food laced with sugar and fat are said to be fuelling the explosion of Type 2 diabetes, which is now the most common form of the disease, affecting nine out of 10 Canadian diabetics.") |

Pre-teen always sneaking junk food especially in children who burn off a lot of energy .. be careful when you say that! They only "burn off a lot of energy" when they are doing something physically active. You're kind of assuming all kids are the same there. |

How do you control the quantity of sweets and junk food a pre-teen eats? 2 things. As @afrazier said I think the good habits formed will help. But more importantly, we are talking about at least having proper nutrition in the formative years, where you have control. |

how do I motivate my 8 yr old to practice the piano regularly? I would recommend getting whatever score he is already interested in. Disney is a great place to start, though. |

How do you tell your child they are terrible at something? Really great! I think the best things you did were: tell her she isn't as good as she thinks she is, but she can be if she tries, then you helped her try and according to your report she is nearly there. Great job. |

Is it bad if I push my daughter into playing sports? Agreed on play with her. You have to train and prepare her for what she is going to face on the field at least so she is average skill with the kids that will already be there. Otherwise she will be discouraged and disinterested. |

Why do kids always do things which we tell them NOT to do? Right so, "Make sure the knife is in the right place (table top)!" and "Make sure you get all the milk in your mouth!" |
