Ah, grandparents. Don't you just love them? :)

comment My child is ignoring my timeouts and walking away from them. What are some options for handling this?
Do you use an clock/timer to indicate when the timeout is over?

comment Is having a sibling better for a child?
@Craig; Well done for identifying the economic issue up-front. We have two children and are both extremely tired and broke :-P

comment How to get a toddler to start chewing and eating solids?
Stop comparing with others - it is unproductive. Remember, Einstein couldn't walk until he was 3 years old.

comment Is there any research on the effects of PG cartoon violence on small children?
That's a pretty old reference. Modern day cartoons can be pretty realistic. I've seen a 5 year old watch Kung Fu Panda and then beat his sister up - anecdotal, but what do you call 'cartoon violence' - did you mean 'slapstick' ?

Pooh usually means 'Winnie The Pooh', whereas this question is about toilet training

comment When should I allow a child to swear?
It also depends on the teacher - I had one teacher who would tolerate profanity if in context, but another who beat the hell out of me for swearing when I cut my hand through his lack of supervision.

comment Methods for reducing or coping with sleep deprivation
I'd add 'learn to go to bed on time' too. Many parents I know are tired and after some quick questioning, it's clear that they are having trouble getting themselves off to bed.

comment Is bribing children with cash incentives a good idea?
Using tokens as a substitute for money is still bribery but the value is determined when the "child cashes in their chips". I'm not sure poker chips are a good thing to introduce to children, either - gambling is an adult activity.
