5 month old won't fall asleep because she always turns herself onto her stomach @SteveTaylor I've raised the sleeping on stomach question with 5 different pediatricians and each one has said the same thing: put the baby to sleep on her back, but once she can flip herself over it's fine. I wish I'd known that before I spent a week awake guarding the crib. |

Ventilation holes in matress for newborn Pretty sure we don't want blankets and pillows in the crib. |

How can we help my 7 year old quit sucking her thumb? @jlg How old is your daughter? I'm not a dentist, but until the permanent teeth come in, I don't think there is a dental concern. This apparatus may also affect speech development, so I could see being cautious. It's important that your daughter WANTS to stop before putting something like this in place as well. Once it starts pushing your daughter's teeth into an overbite, he likely will start looking at mechanical solutions. |

How do you prevent a toddler from waking too early? This was usually my son's problem, if he refused dinner it was a near-sure thing that he'd wake up at 3am. |

How do I teach my child to express his frustration? Thank you for the alone corner idea. We do need a better place for timeouts, and this sounds like a better solution. His vocabulary is actually very good (several hundred words, uses sentences to request things). I do like the idea of questioning him about his emotions rather than putting words in his mouth ("I realize you're angry" doesn't help much). |
