comment Established methods to help fussy/picky eaters at late primary age
Sensory issues are really tricky and often have no rhyme or reason evident to a lay-person. Consulting with a speech therapist that specializes in something like NDT and eating will be worth it, if only to rule out "obvious" things not apparent to you.

comment How to explain to a 9-year-old why a relative is not welcome
If you haven't heard it already, I suggest that you listen to this episode of This American Life. I realize that your uncle does not fit in to the category described in the show, but their descriptions of support and therapy might be helpful to you.

comment Is it fine for parents to ask for allowance from children? How to do it tactfully?
Also, don't just ask for a dollar figure. Make sure you have a prepared budget. I've found in general that people are more likely to help those who are responsible and prepared than those who do nothing to help themselves.

comment What can my girlfriend do for her daughter?
Call the local Sheriff's or Police non-emergency number. Ask them to accompany your GF to the ex's house to retrieve the state ID.

comment Can a Stepfather and Stepson relationship work well?
You never hear about the good ones because they work. A good step-relationship generally doesn't get pointed out because there is no useful need to highlight it. Bad step-relationships are frequently (wrongly) blamed on the fact that it's a step-relationship, and poor relationships are more "noticeable".
