comment 8 year old too stressed to sleep
This will only give more focus to her disbelief that it's something wrong with her that needs special action to be fixed.

comment Why should children be rewarded for good behaviour?
A way of limiting rewards to doing tasks and chores, would be to surprise the child occasionally by rewarding after they have done it (without promising anything in forehand). This will teach them that doing good will sometimes pay off, but not generally to expect to get reward.

comment How do you deal with a 9 year old not doing their homework?
@JavidJamae: I agree, but it is hard to say it in a way that is not taken the wrong way from the child. How can you acknowledge that it is a challenge in a way that will inspire the child instead of leading to frustration because it is hard?

comment How can we be sure our infant has colic rather than another issue?
The term colic is more like a name for symptoms of different causes rather than a disease. The cause of colic is often stomach ache caused by Digestive Issues (read: gas) that is becoming a problem for several hours a day. See the excellent answers here for more details...

comment How can I help my 4 yr old adjust to junior kindergarten?
Good point about the fruit. At my son's school, they actually have an organized fruit meal after first period to boost energy for the rest of the day.

comment Does feedback from a baby monitor result in hearing loss?
@bobobobo: Good point, although from the child's position, the direction of the sound is away, so it would not be that loud for him as for you.
