Should I be concerned that my 3 year old is not able to pronounce an 'r' sound? @MarieHendrix That was a really good answer, and 100% correct. I had the same issue with the R sound as a child and a speech pathologist sorted it out with the same sort of exercises you listed here. I can distinctly remember the frustration of thinking that the R sounded exactly the same when I said it and when someone else said it, and being understanding of that goes a long way. Oh, and the most intimidating word in world back then was "railroad"... |

How do my wife and I stop our son from learning to swear from us? @blunders: What I meant is that you can ease out of the habit of swearing by first changing the words and then changing the behavior (which is easier without the original word associations). Just like your example, when my daughter seemed to be picking up the behavior of swearing even with silly words, it was a lot easier to stop saying silly words than it would have been to stop the initial swearing response in general. |

What are some fun (no TV or computer) activities that a 2 year old and a 4 year old would enjoy together? +1 for the cooking utensils, works great with my 3 year old and 1.5 year old. Real ones or toy ones, doesn't matter, they play restaurant or pretend to shop and cook, it turned out to be one of their favorite things. |
