toned down the sexual connotations slightly (possibly you read a racier version of Cinderella...)

Half of these answers are films, I've edited it to separate them out.

comment Punishment for stealing?
@WalkerNeo As the cops already busted her, and the manager let her off, what you could show her is that that doesn't always happen. You could talk to your local police force, they probably have some prevention sessions. I was going to suggest that you sell her stuff to make her pay for the stuff she stole, but she apparently didn't get away with it. Same for just reporting her to the cops. You could talk to the store manager about making her work weekends for him to make up for the insult, but he may have issues with that.

@Walkerneo There's a difference between inconsistency and admitting a mistake. Inconsistency is doing different things for similar events; one time you get a cuddle for playing with daddy's wallet, the next time you get sent to bed. It's hard to work out what behaviour is desired of you. Admitting a mistake is when you get punished and then find out that you wouldn't be punished like this again, and shouldn't have last time. If done properly, it helps you to predict what's going to happen, because it's been discussed.

+1: Keep achievements and punishments separate. From where you are, I'd apologise for taking back the money, explain you were angry and hand it back, then move on to explaining why you were angry, and then move on to the phases above.

comment How do we stop our daughter rolling over and waking herself up?
@Banang Suggest we move this to chat before it goes any further, but I watched the effects of constantly waking up on my partner and myself, and one of the needs of the baby is to have at least one primary carer who has had enough sleep to make sensible decisions. I do agree that CIO wasn't our first choice, and we held off for some time because of it, but careful controlled crying definitely worked for us.
