Lapsed Catholic. Luddite Geek. Shy Chatterbox. A mass of contradictions wrapped in an open enigma.

Some days, I really regret making http://stackoverflow.com/a/3638034/14250 a comm. wiki question. Then I get back to helping people solve problems rather than trying to help myself score rep. (Man, but 370 upvotes. Three. Hundred. And. Seventy.)

comment What exercises should be done post-op for a tongue tied 2 week old?
Actually, if Brendan's okay with it, it seems like the top answer on there is appropriate as well: "Ask your doctor".

comment How should parents handle disagreement over medicine?
(1) then that's what I'd aim to get across, when talking to your wife. Don't go for "I am right", go for "I am not comfortable with our son treating something like this as interchangeable with medicines". (2) Not. Going. Near. That. Comment. It's a Trap!

I've edited the title slightly, to focus on the part of this that is appropriate for this site, rather than a title that I instinctively want to boot over to Skeptics.SE

More suitable title

comment How do you evaluate yourself as a parent?
Besides, "take care of the basics of character, and let your kids handle the complexities of personality" is a fairly solid approach.

Which is kind of the point, there's nothing wrong with occupying that space.

So many questions, beginning with "Who's this we?" The Hive-Mind has come, and its weapons are confusion and StackExchange sites.

comment Why do my children cry in my wife's arms but are quiet with me?
My partner found "I'm a developer and rarely spend time with the children so there is no attachment issue here" to be the funniest thing she'd read all day, if slightly troubling...

comment Recommended method for checking a baby is not too cold
@Urbycoz That's probably relevant information that should be in the question. (e.g. "My mother, an experienced nursery nurse") Thank goodness I put the caveat in or I'd look like a right fool.

I'll be honest, when dealing with classes taught by trained professionals versus what your mum told you, it's generally wise to go with the professionals, unless your mum is herself a trained medical professional (trust me, at that point just give in) Certainly, when your mum claims that something you heard in class is an "old wives' tale", remember that she's probably the ACTUAL old wife in the room...

+1 for the "don't bite him back", which should be blindlingly obvious... :D

comment USG fetal age is 2 weeks behind LMP for 33 wk Pregnency. Is it a concern?
Also, the key part of the question is unclear, as it's hard to work out which ultrasound came first, the "2 weeks behind", or the "1 week ahead". That's the most important part of the question, and it's been buried amongst the bullet points.
