Lapsed Catholic. Luddite Geek. Shy Chatterbox. A mass of contradictions wrapped in an open enigma.

Some days, I really regret making http://stackoverflow.com/a/3638034/14250 a comm. wiki question. Then I get back to helping people solve problems rather than trying to help myself score rep. (Man, but 370 upvotes. Three. Hundred. And. Seventy.)

comment Caring for the Children of Deceased Parents
@anongoodnurse I agree with the principal, but in practical terms, if you're asking someone to care for 5 additional kids, that's a colossal burden to put on someone, special needs or no special needs. That's a "move house, give up full-time job, completely rewrite entire life" change, in a way that just one child isn't. Seperation may be the only viable option over outright rejection,l

comment How often is it okay for a kid to become ill in kindergarten?
@AntonZujev You're welcome. Sorry if I sounded critical, this is one of those borderline cases, where the gap between "Parental" and "Medical" advice is a bit woolly, and I wanted to make sure I explained my close vote.

I agree with all your points except the "identification" paragraph. I think that's a slight underestimate; my daughter was identifying animals on the page earlier than 15 months. I think identification of self is actually a later developmental stage than identification of images as representations of things. Your final paragraph is great advice.

@Joe: Agreed, fixed. Getting an outside opinion was the key point, for exactly the reason you state, but I couldn't think of the correct person to go to (in the UK you'd go to your local GP).

I think this is kind of a medical question, and thus out of scope for the site. You have concerns about your child's health, DOCTOR, not internet Q&A site. Your child may have been cuddling the other kids when they sneeze, or they may have a serious immune system issue. I personally would be reluctant to diagnose between these based on a StackExchange post.

comment My daughter is 15 and in love with a girl that is 19 what should i do?
Specifically, what are your feelings, what do you want to do, what do you want out of it? Is this about grandkids, religion, age differences, the actual girl in question, how the rest of your family will feel? There's a lot we could cover, but more information will allow us to help better.

+1: Great edit; the idea that you won't remember the playing with fondness is a really critical idea. I personally have the other feeling; I can remember beating incredibly difficult challenges with glee, but there are so many TV shows I wish I'd never spent the time on.

-1: My issue with this answer is that you seem to regret the time spent, but the rest of your answer is fairly positive about the outcomes. I'd appreciate a little edit to say what it is you actually regret.
