How to simultaneously spoon feed twins? It seems that the children typically do survive. It's the parent's that are scarred in the end! :) j/k |

Why don't kids like vegetables? I think the taste rule is great, although I have picky nieces and nephews that make up their mind to hate a food before they even put it near their mouth. In this case, 3 bites may convince them that it's not so bad after all, but they're so stubborn that they will continue to refuse. In general, though, this is a great idea! |

Can rocking an infant make her too dependent on it? Good point about rocking in the womb. Dr. Karp (author of the Happiest Baby on the Block book and developer of the 5 S's method the OP mentioned) even mentions this in his books and videos. Imagine getting used to this rocking for 9 months and then suddenly you're born into a whole new world with much less rocking. Even if you were rocked for hours a day, it would be a cut back from what you're used to! |

What studies exist regarding computer usage and computer game playing that support limiting access? Those are some excellent points. The studies above should be taken just for what they're worth. |

What studies exist regarding computer usage and computer game playing that support limiting access? @Doug Thanks for the quality, well-thought-out comment. I don't think anybody implied that correlation is causation. The OP asked what types of studies support limiting video game usage. These are simply a few examples of studies parents might base these decisions on, as well as a few counter-examples. You're probably right to say that we cannot establish causation (like I said, I didn't read the research), but you'd be naive to assume that the correlation is uninformative simply because it doesn't imply causation. |

How do you choose a first pediatrician? +1 for speaking to members of the community...especially if you can talk to friends, neighbors, or somebody with which you share an extra level of trust and understanding. |

Is bribing children with cash incentives a good idea? Can't wait until your kid(s) start explaining Fibonacci numbers to their friends in kindergarten! |

How can we discipline our toddler? My wife had a lot of friends that swear by the Supernanny method. It definitely didn't change our lives overnight (I had mixed feelings at first), but as we've used it consistently over time I think it's slowly beginning to work. I don't think we use it because it works wonderfully, I think we use it because everything else fails so horribly! |

When upgrading our toddler from a cot to a bed, how do we keep him in his bed? @TorbenGB We keep it gated from the time we put her down until the time we get her out of bed. The rest of the house is mostly child-proof, but we don't think she's quite ready for 30-60 minutes of unsupervised activity through the whole house. We may not use the gate when that changes. Re: your other points, have you noticed any activities you do during the day that help him calm down? Sounds like a very energetic young man! |
