How can I prevent my 2 year old from covering her face with a blanket when she sleeps? We actually did try one of those sleep mask things that some people on airplanes wear - she didn't like that either. I like the idea of trying a hat though - it's definitely worth a try :) |

How can I prevent my 2 year old from covering her face with a blanket when she sleeps? That's a good point that helps me be a little less fearful about her sleeping with something covering her head. I think a compromise is indeed the way to go. Thanks for your answer! |

How can I prevent my 2 year old from covering her face with a blanket when she sleeps? We actually tried to use one of these on her when she was younger and still in a crib, and she always found a way to take it off. This would be a really good option otherwise though :) |

How can I prevent my 2 year old from covering her face with a blanket when she sleeps? I like the personal experience in your answer, and the part about finding something comfortable for us. Maybe we can take a trip to the store with her and find a blanket we all will be comfortable with. |

What are some ways to get an older sibling to give a younger sibling a little space? Great comments! I like the idea of letting her hug us instead of her little sister - we'll have to try that. Thanks! |

Is an expensive stroller worth it? I think it may depend on your child. For whatever reason, our first child hated the expensive stroller we had. After 5 minutes of screaming, we would pick her up out of it, and end up having to carry her and push a stroller. When she got big enough to sit up, we put in her in one of those cheap "umbrella" strollers (for $15-$20) and she loved it! It was way more portable, it still had a visor to block the sun, and we had a happy baby. That doesn't answer your question, but it's another thing to think about. |

Is baby talk helpful or detrimental? Here's one downside to baby talk. We had a 3 year old when we had our second baby. Kids in the 2-4 year old range pick up on everything, so our 3 year old used exaggerated baby talk when talking to our baby. It got annoying very quick, and a lot of people noticed how our 3 year old spoke to our baby. That quickly decreased the amount we "baby-talked" to our baby - not for the sake of the baby (which your question is directed at), but for the sake of the older sibling... |

When can I cover my baby with a blanket in her crib? I was more concerned with safety. Since she is over a year old now, and if we use a lighter blanket, it sounds like she would probably be okay with it... |

When can I cover my baby with a blanket in her crib? @Liutauras - excellent info. Again, I wish I would have known about these years ago :) |

When can I cover my baby with a blanket in her crib? @Liutauras - Good to know! Too bad this site wasn't open earlier! Winter is over and my daughter is growing up :) |

When can I cover my baby with a blanket in her crib? Hmm - that is a good idea - wish I would have seen those before. Our daughter can crawl around and stand now, so I'm not sure if it would be viable now, but certainly when she was younger. |

Why does the baby consistently fuss at nightfall? Both of our girls did that as well. I heard that it was one of their ways of getting rid of some extra energy. |

What are some ways to get an older sibling to give a younger sibling a little space? The older one was definitely acting out for attention for the first 3 months after the younger one was born. The older one is usually obedient, but I think the younger one is "just so cute" she can't help but hug her or give her toys or something. I guess I could be wrong, but it just seems like the younger one will do something really cute which kind of triggers something for the older one. And I think you are right about the younger one not being old enough to fend for herself - screaming is pretty much her only defense right now. |
