comment Baby gift suggestion for third boy?
The gift cards don't usually have fees (Visa doesn't mention any, AmEx charges a couple of dollars for the purchase, but has no fees after that), but the prepaid cards might, so make sure you know which one you're getting. The difference is that prepaid cards are reloadable, while gift cards generally aren't.

comment Can the council demand that a 16yo shares a bedroom with a 1yo?
@DA01 - I disagree. As far as I can tell, the only reason council is mentioned is because they control the size of the house the family lives in. I find it hard to believe that they're mandating that the kids share a bedroom if other options are available, even in the given house.

comment What kind of obedience is to be expected from a 2-year old?
Side note re: potty - My son goes through phases where he'll either fight the potty or want to use it. Sometimes it's brought on by the behavior of his classmates at daycare. If your child goes to some kind of daycare, see if there's something that's going on that might be triggering her refusal to use the potty.

comment 8yr old boy - afraid of too many things, too laid-back, lacks zeal to compete
No real need to answer me, the questions are largely rhetorical and to help you determine the next step to make. If it helps you to answer here, feel free, but you don't have to feel obligated to do so. On a side note, it might help to write down notes about various events/instances that you think might be relevant to getting him help from professionals, if you decide to go that route.

comment My child is constantly hungry. How do I keep her feeling fuller?
@balancedmama - Even after your detailed list, her diet looks very low in fat. The fattiest things on your list are the sausage, ham (maybe), meatloaf (depending on how it's cooked), and milk. It doesn't have to be "cheeseburgers and fries," but those foods are an easy way to add fats. Try cooking your stir fry in olive and/or coconut oil, using either as a dip for the veggies, or even cooking things with butter to help add fat into your other meals. Since she loves fruits and veggies, see what she thinks of avocados, too.

comment Installing car seat base…how tight is good enough?
You don't have to pull all of the seatbelt through the feeder. Pull just enough through to latch it, and keep the excess on the original side when you pull it out to activate the locking mechanism.

comment When should you worry about a toddler's loss of appetite and weight?
@Aqualullaby - Short answer - if you're worried, talk to your child's doctor. It's better to talk to them and it turn out to be nothing/normal, than to ignore it and have it be something serious.

comment When should you worry about a toddler's loss of appetite and weight?
@Aqualullaby - "Crossing x curve" doesn't really work either. What if they dance on a threshold naturally? 10% bodyweight is generally considered significant, regardless of starting or ending size (for example, in adults a 10% decrease in bodyweight is linked to significant improvement in heart health; it doesn't matter if the person was 175 or 350 pounds before the weight loss).

comment Are modern cloth diapers really cost efficient compared to disposible diapers?
Some daycares are willing to use cloth diapers if you ask, though they may have certain requirements. We use the GroVia AI2 diapers and have them set up like the disposables, so the daycare workers don't have to do anything with the inserts. We also provide individual wet bags for the used diapers, and a larger wet bag to put them in.
